Mount Royal Academy is a truly special place. In order to both sustain and improve our mission, educators, parents, and community members must collectively reflect on what makes Mount Royal so different from other schools. By doing so, we are inevitably reminded that Christ is the real engine of growth and accomplishment in our school community.
In the Lectionary for Friday, April 20th we continue with the amazing and dramatic narrative of the first years of the Church. The Apostles are confronted with opposition by religious and political leaders of their day. In the midst of this opposition, a prominent member of the Sanhedrin stands up and shares a very profound insight. Responding to the suggestion that the Sanhedrin arrange for the execution of the early apostles, Gamaliel states
For if this endeavor or this activity is of human origin, it will destroy itself. But if it comes from God, you will not be able to destroy them; you may even find yourselves fighting against God. (Acts 5:34 - 42).
Why is this important for the Mount Royal school community? We must continually recall that all things worthy of growth and success are ordained and directed by God. If MRA continues to thrive and grow as a school community, then surely it is because of divine Providence, and not because of mere human efforts.
